SHADOW Boxer did it with ease, and now will head off to Wentworth Park for Cup riches.
The son of Hallucinate-In My Dreams came from a clear last early, swept around the entire field approaching the home turn, but raced away to win a 600m 4th-5th Grade at Albion Park on Thursday night.
In the process he reeled off a 34.83 victory strolling home by five lengths from Ultra Rumble with a length to Cronin State in third.
It was the manner in which Shadow Boxer treated a quality field of middle distance gallopers with complete contempt that was the most impressive aspect of the win.
His final section of 12.85 told the story of his power finish. Shadow Boxer was almost six lengths off the leader at the start of the final section.
It took his record to 13 wins and 11 placings in 29 starts.
Trainer Greg Brennan will now head towards the Chairman's Cup over 720m at Wentworth Park in two weeks.
"I'll ring Sydney tomorrow to check his grade," said Brennan. The Chairman's Cup is open to fourth and fifth grade dogs.
"I'm pretty certain he will be eligible, but I just want to make sure."
Brennan has been in greyhound racing for 35 years and admits Shadow Boxer is easily the best dog he has had.
His partner Vicki Smith owns the dog. Greg and Vicki have a litter of Slater-In My Dreams pups nearing breaking in age.
